Yeast infection in men is more frequent than usually thought
and can cause many health problems. Most men quietly live not knowing that they
can have a yeast infection because there is the idea that only the women can
get it. As a matter of fact, women get a vaginal infection and they realize
that there is something wrong in their body. On the other hand, a man cannot
realize that he is infected until he got some serious health problem or is
informed by his partner that she has a yeast infection and therefore he also
has a chance to be infected.
The most common demonstration of the infection in men is
certainly the appearance of yeast on the penis. However, the problem can be
more serious because during sex the male urethra is exposed to a urinary tract
infection from an infected partner. In addition, the yeast can move up in the
urethral canal and create some grave damages.
Causes of Yeast Infection in Men
The most known causes of yeast infection in adult and youth males
are antibiotics, alcohol, beer, sex with infected partners, eating a lot of
wheat products, corn products, and high sugar foods.
Why an abuse
of antibiotics could be a serious cause of yeast infection? The reason is that
antibiotics weaken the good bacteria that are present in any human body then
allowing to spread out the yeast infection. On the other hand, beer is produced
with yeast and sugar and therefore can help the growth of yeast in the
intestine. Also food rich in wheat, corn and sugar can increase the growth of
the yeast.
Yeast Infection Symptoms
In addition to the appearance of yeast on the penis, the
most common symptoms of yeast infection in men are:
·
digestive problems
·
bad breath
·
constipation
·
intestinal gas
·
diarrhea
·
mood swings and irritability
·
lack of energy
·
memory loss
·
flaky dry itchy skin
·
athlete feet
Less frequently, the infection can also cause prostatic
problems and sexual dysfunction.
Yeast Infection Home Treatment
Home treatments are based on the observation that yeast grow
more in an acid environment and then the goal is to neutralize the body of any acidity. Nutrients
that can be used to this aim are:
· Coconut oil
· Oregano oil
· Tea tree oil
i Cinnamon oil
· Plain yogurt
During the assumption of these nutrients, dairy products,
soy, wheat, eggs, fructose and any food containing yeast should be avoided.
In case of itching, a hot bath with some vinegar can help in
restoring the body PH and stop the yeast growth.
